thebbc young reportercompetition

The BBC Young Reporter Competition is back for 2023! It’s an opportunity for 11-18 year olds in the UK to share an original story idea with the BBC. Winning stories will be produced with the help of BBC journalists, producers and programme makers for broadcast on TV, radio, online or on social media.

What kind of stories are they looking for?

There is just one story category: Me and My World

What story idea do you think the BBC should be reporting?

The story should be original: something that hasn’t been widely reported on before, or that can help bring a new and unique angle to a subject.  It can be a personal story, or something related to the experience of a young person’s family, friends or community, or an issue or experience particularly relevant to young people.

For further information on how to apply visit

Deadline for applications is Friday 31 March 2023 at 23:59.
